"We should All be Dogs"

Maybe we should have been dogs, then this problem would have never been
Cause they don't worry about color, and they don't worry about skin
For instance if a brown dog sees another and its color is white
It does not wait to play with him because it sees him as alike
If we were more like dogs we wouldn't really care
About what clothes she has on today or what color is her hair
Cause dogs look past the differences they unite with "doginess"
And maybe if we were more like them we could cut down on all the stress
Because without ignorance we are freer to learn to accept
The things we don't understand and to show them some respect
So let me be a dog or at least get some of its qualities
Yes that's what we should be saying to save humanity

If I told you I love you, would you walk away?

Would you contemplate the meaning of every word I say?

Would you analyze and analyze until you dropped?

Would you think that I am crazy cause I quickly fall in love?

If I told you that I love you, would you easily dismiss?

All the things you feel, the words you say, and take back every wish

Am I wrong to say I love you? When my heart’s starting to live

I want to feel your presence near and yes I want to give

You all of me, my heart, my love, my soul, my lullaby

But fear denies me this because of all the prior tries

I’ve opened up, I’ve been shut down and now I’ve given up

Cause all I find is disappointments of unrequited love

I find myself thinking about you every single moment

Wanting to be with only you, I’ll be fully content

Need you in my life now until the end

You’ve got me hoping that this will be the love that mends

All the heart aches, all the heartbreaks, all the running tears

All the maybes, all the whys, all the petty fears

So I shall say I love you and put all on the line

And if you love me too then together we shall shine

Babies crying, yet children laugh

teenagers kissing, while adults get annoyed

who knows where it will lead us

who knows if we will not rust
